Robert Half is assisting an industry leader in hiring an Assistant Controller to support financial operations and help maintain accurate, timely reporting for the organization in Southwest Iowa. This role partners closely with accounting leadership to strengthen close processes, uphold ledger integrity, and contribute to audit readiness. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, a detail-oriented approach, and the ability to manage priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Lead key activities tied to the monthly close cycle, ensuring deadlines are met and financial data is complete and accurate.

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, researching discrepancies and resolving issues in a timely manner.

• Prepare internal and external financial reports that provide clear insight into business performance and compliance requirements.

• Support annual and interim audit activities by organizing schedules, responding to inquiries, and coordinating required documentation.

• Assist with the development and review of financial statements to ensure accuracy and adherence to applicable standards.

• Partner with accounting and operational teams to improve reporting workflows, strengthen controls, and enhance process consistency.

• Demonstrated experience managing month-end close responsibilities within an accounting or finance environment.

• Strong working knowledge of general ledger structure, reconciliations, and account analysis.

• Experience supporting financial statement preparation and external audit processes.

• Ability to produce accurate financial reporting while managing multiple deadlines.

• Solid analytical skills with strong attention to detail and a commitment to data integrity.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
