About the Position

Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours (48 hours per week) Experience: Minimum 18 months in MedSurg/Tele nursing License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: General Med/Tele skillset, including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management), PCA pumps, medication drip management (including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF). Description: The role requires a skilled Registered Nurse in the MedSurg/Telemetry specialty. You will work in a unit with varying bed capacity. Patient diagnoses may include end-stage renal disease, fluid overload, sickle cell disease, diabetes mellitus, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health issues. The nurse-patient ratio is typically 1:5-6, which may increase to 1:7-8 during critical surges. Support within the department includes CNAs, receptionists, HUCs, and charge nurses. Phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws and telemetry monitoring are included in the support services. You will use an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, medication dispensing technology, and IV pumps. Floating may be required to other units and facilities as needed, adhering to scope of practice. Weekend rotations are mandatory, with expectations to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off can be approved, but additional time must be added to the contract if hours are not met. The schedule cycle is every 6 weeks. Scrubs must be navy in color.
