Corporate Counsel, Patient Services and Market Access

Corporate Counsel position supporting patient services and market access initiatives at a pharmaceutical company. The attorney will advise on patient support program compliance, payer communications, healthcare economic information, and evolving regulatory requirements across AbbVie's commercial operations.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Patient Services and internal stakeholders to assess legal risks and ensure compliant business decisions
• Advise on design, implementation, and modification of patient support programs including affordability and reimbursement services
• Review patient-facing, provider-facing, and field materials for compliance with program terms and positioning
• Counsel on payer and formulary committee interactions, account planning, and use of approved materials with healthcare decision-makers
• Develop training, playbooks, and guidance documents to strengthen legal understanding across the organization

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state
• 3-5 years relevant legal experience in pharmaceutical in-house counsel, life sciences law firm, or government agency roles
• Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, payer interactions, and specialty pharmacy operations
• Familiarity with FDA regulations, anti-kickback statutes, false claims act, and healthcare compliance frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to identify legal risks and provide clear guidance in matrix organizations
• Strong legal writing, research, and communication skills
