Job Details

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Establish the instrumentation and controls scope and detailed requirements for equipment-package projects.
• Review customer specifications and translate them into technical control-system requirements.
• Prepare specifications for third-party control-system design and manufacturing providers.
• Review and manage third-party deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Finalize control-system architecture and select appropriate control hardware.
• Design, develop, and debug PLC programs, HMI applications, sequence logic, PID loops, and electrical control systems.
• Prepare P&IDs, control schematics, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, cable schedules, bills of materials, and component specifications.
• Produce accurate 2D and 3D AutoCAD general arrangement drawings.
• Design electrical and instrumentation layouts for hazardous-area equipment packages.
• Size instrument cables, junction boxes, conduit, and cable trays according to oil and gas codes and standards.
• Support procurement by evaluating instrumentation and control-system alternatives based on specifications, cost, and lead time.
• Support applications and sales teams with technical specifications, proposals, RFQs, tenders, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Evaluate project-site conditions and communicate directly with internal and external customers.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, designers, suppliers, procurement, and manufacturing teams.
• Support equipment assembly, inspection, calibration, loop checking, and factory acceptance testing.
• Provide commissioning and startup support at customer locations.
• Develop operating procedures, acceptance tests, validation plans, and testing protocols.
• Improve engineering tools, design processes, product standardization, efficiency, accuracy, and cost performance.
• Provide regular project-status updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Qualifications Needed

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of instrumentation and controls engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience designing instrumentation and control systems for oil and gas process equipment packages.
• Hands-on experience programming and debugging PLCs and HMIs.
• Experience designing and implementing sequence logic and PID control loops.
• Strong ability to create, read, and interpret P&IDs.
• Experience developing control schematics, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, cable schedules, bills of materials, and component specifications.
• Proficiency with 2D and 3D AutoCAD.
• Experience establishing control-system architecture and selecting control hardware.
• Knowledge of hazardous-area classifications and electrical/instrumentation package layouts.
• Understanding of API, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, IEC, and other applicable industry standards.
• Ability to size instrument cables, junction boxes, conduit, and cable trays.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, calibration, loop checks, FAT, commissioning, or equipment startup.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and general computer skills.
• Ability to travel approximately 10%-25%, including international travel.
• Epicor or Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is preferred.
• No professional license or certification is required.
