Sleep and Diagnostic Area Manager

Duties

The duties include:

• Evaluating and assigning work assignments in Sleep and Diagnostic areas to meet patient care needs ensuring appropriate coverage of staff and resources
• Providing direct patient care on day-to-day operations in sleep and diagnostic areas
• Planning work schedules and operations making changes in the organization of work within allowable costs and established policies, expediting procedures and reports in a timely manner
• Monitoring and verifying all work performed by Respiratory Therapists is completed as ordered in a timely manner using direct observation and other quality measures
• Assisting in the development, update, and maintenance of standard operating procedures and ensuring they are in compliance with Joint Commission and other accrediting agency requirements, departmental or hospital policies and guidelines
• Approving or disapproving leave requests as appropriate
• Providing competency training for all Respiratory Care staff on an annual and as needed basis
• Working with the Chief and Medical Director to ensure assigned areas meet all Joint Commission and other sleep related regulatory requirements
• Evaluating and monitoring patient/staff workflow in sleep and diagnostic areas
• Recommending and implementing changes to improve the timeliness and efficiency of care in assigned areas
• Ensuring staff's timely documentation of work performed
• Providing care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned area (i.e. adult and geriatric patient populations)
• Collaborating with Chief, Respiratory Care and the Education Service Line for planning and implementing effective educational programs for inservices, orientation, continuing education, annual competency training for all employees in sleep and diagnostic throughout the year
• Coordinating and providing clinical/technical respiratory trainings/education to staff and patients
• Providing inservice/training to the physicians, nurses and other disciplines upon request
• Ensuring employees complete and maintain licensures, competencies, and department and hospital mandatory trainings
• Collaborating with Chief, Respiratory Care in the continuation of annual Respiratory conferences and other training that will promote quality Respiratory Care services
• Obtaining continuing education credit for staff through the Texas Society for Respiratory Care or AARC (American Association for Respiratory Care)
• Preparing formal performance evaluations of employees under his/her supervision
• Recommending approval, modification, or rejection of formal requests from subordinates for promotion, reassignment, status changes, and awards
• Dealing with the Union Steward and others when applicable on personnel matters
• Responsible for auditing care/service, and recommending changes when indicated

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility
