Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit: The Department of Recreation and Wellness (RecWell) is housed in the Division of Student Affairs. Serve as wise stewards of University resources.Position Summary: Qualifications Under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Director of Fitness, the Coordinator, Fitness Operations is responsible for the coordination and management of the fitness spaces in the 216,000 sq ft. Leonard J. Kaplan Center for Wellness. The Coordinator, Fitness Operations also directly supervises and develops a team of approximately 30–40 part-time student employees through recruitment, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, evaluating, and ongoing professional development. The position is responsible for maintaining service excellence by ensuring staff are knowledgeable in customer service, equipment usage, emergency response procedures, and risk management practicesMinimum Qualifications: Relevant Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience. National certification in group fitness and/or personal training. Team-player philosophy and able to successfully work independently and in collaborative groups. Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Strong commitment to the development of students to provide leadership training, support academic success, and professional development. American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or able to attain within first three months. Experience managing a fitness facility with oversight of equipment preventative maintenance and assessment, budgetary and/or equipment purchasing. Manage program area budgets for fitness operations and fitness events. Assist with equipment replacement planning and capital purchases. Assist with the implementation and execution of fitness events. Assess and evaluate the potential risks associated with fitness programs and facilities. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines for fitness spaces. Assist with teaching fitness prep course to UNCG students and university affiliates. Develop and assess program goals to align with strategic initiatives within Recreation and Wellness, Student Affairs, and UNCG Assist marketing program in promoting and marketing fitness initiatives.
