Locum MD (Medical Doctor), DO (Osteopathic Doctor) Anesthesiology

Description

 This full-time, on-site position offers an opportunity to provide high-quality anesthesia care within a supportive clinical environment serving patients in the Albany area.

As a Locum Anesthesiologist, you will deliver safe and effective anesthesia services across surgical and procedural settings, conducting pre-operative assessments, administering anesthesia, and monitoring patients throughout their care. You will work closely with surgical teams, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive pre-anesthesia patient evaluations and assessments
• Develop and implement individualized anesthesia care plans
• Administer general, regional, and local anesthesia as clinically indicated
• Continuously monitor patient vital signs and anesthesia depth during procedures
• Manage airway emergencies and respond promptly to intraoperative complications
• Provide post-anesthesia care and oversee patient recovery
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
• Adhere to institutional protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and peer review processes

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
• Completion of an accredited Anesthesiology residency program
• Active and unrestricted medical license eligible to practice in New York
• Board certification or eligibility in Anesthesiology
• Current DEA registration and valid CPR/ACLS/PALS certifications
• Strong clinical judgment and expertise in airway management
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients and staff
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site clinical setting
• Preferred: Prior locum tenens experience in anesthesiology
• Preferred: Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7a-5:30p

Beeper Call: Weeknights (5:30p-7a) and weekends (24-hour)

Case Types: Cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacements, vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastics, ENT, urology, etc.

EMR: CPRS

Must be board-certified or board-eligible

Any state license accepted

Paid travel & expenses

BLS and ACLS required
