Contract | Nights | 7p–7:30a | Every other weekend required | Holidays worked into staff schedule as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity trauma and general surgery inpatient unit encompassing both floor and stepdown levels of care, maintaining ratios of 1:6 (floor) and 1:3 (stepdown)
• Manage complex wound care involving a variety of drains and devices, chest tubes, and respiratory support for patients with traumatic injuries including chest-wall injuries, traumatic brain injuries (TBI) , and complex spinal cord injuries
• Care for bariatric surgery patients as part of a nationally recognized Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Center program
• Administer and monitor drips including Heparin and PCAs (floor) and Insulin, Cardizem, and other non-pressor drips (stepdown); validate telemetry strips in collaboration with monitor techs
• Collaborate with care management, surgical and medical services, rehabilitation, and perioperative services to coordinate patient care
• Float to like units (floor/stepdown) as required; work collaboratively with Clinical Associates and a budgeted free charge nurse available 24/7

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (or compact equivalent) in good standing
• BLS certification required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Experience with 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio (med-surg/floor setting) required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for stepdown-level patients including telemetry monitoring and strip interpretation
• Background in bariatric surgery patient care
• Familiarity with respiratory support equipment; Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7 and manages stable/chronic vents on unit
• Strong time management skills with the ability to practice across two levels of care simultaneously
