Sequencing and Genomics Data Associate

Overview TGen's Collaborative Sequencing Center (CSC) provides next generation sequencing services for internal and external investigators, helping expedite translational research. The CSC offers services from DNA and RNA isolation, sequencing library construction, and sequencing on industry leading platforms (Illumina NovaSeq X Plus, miSeq‑100, PacBio Revio, Oxford Nanopore PromethION, and Element Aviti). Position The role is a Research Associate Level II or III position focusing on sequencing data generation. The individual will perform manual and robotic nucleic acid extractions, library preparation, instrument loading and maintenance, record‑keeping using a laboratory information management system, and evaluation of pre‑ and post‑sequencing quality control metrics. Responsibilities Generate data for research and experimental purposes following established research procedures. Develop and optimize assays for sequencing applications, and maintain detailed documentation. Plan, execute, and QC analyze studies; communicate with other groups involved. Train others. Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment. Collaborate with lab director, lab manager, CSC lab staff, informatics staff, field service engineers, and instrument technical service specialists as needed. Perform general laboratory duties. Research relevant literature as needed. Assist with safety and lab equipment training, protocols, data analysis, and presentations. Participate in lab meetings, updating progress, results, and future goals/studies. Train TGen staff on proper usage of shared resources. Benefits BC/BS of Arizona health coverage. Requirements Bachelor's Degree in a science‑related field (e.g., Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Genetics). Minimum of two years of laboratory experience after graduation. Strong communication skills; ability to read and write scientifically. Excellent organization, record‑keeping, and critical thinking skills. Familiarity with field concepts, practices, and procedures; experience with standard laboratory equipment. Clear experience in molecular biology. Experience with next‑generation sequencing methods is a strong asset but not required. Comfortable using Microsoft Office products or comparable software. Special consideration for candidates with prior high‑throughput sequencing lab experience.
