Senior Automation Controls Engineer

Kforce's cliient is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer for an onsite role in Phoenix, AZ. This is a direct search assignment with the hiring manager. The company offers a competitive compensation package including base salary and annual bonus. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial automation and controls, with experience in critical power, renewable energy, or similar industries. Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deploy PLC and HMI solutions for power distribution systems
• Provide hands-on support for system validation, testing, and troubleshooting
• Collaborate on component selection and system implementation with engineering teams
• Interface directly with customers to ensure technical requirements are understood and delivered
• Travel to customer sites as needed (up to 20%, ~6-8 weeks annually)
• Serve as a technical lead/mentor for junior engineers
• BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, Mechatronics, Robotics or similar field or equivalent work experience
• 7-9+ years of experience in automation or related engineering fields
• Strong background in industrial automation and controls for Power Distribution Systems
• 2+ years of field support experience for automated systems
• 2+ years of Codesys programming experience
• Solid understanding of IEC 61131-3 standards

• Experience designing and deploying PLC/HMI systems for power distribution
• Familiarity with electrical panel design
• Experience with platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon, or Honeywell TDC
