About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care Unit Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intermediate Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7P-7A Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in Intermediate/PCU level of care. License: Current RN license required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required; AACN and CCRN preferred. Must-Have: Experience with trauma patients and performing Q2H neuro checks. Must have experience with stroke patients. Must be able to administer 100% FiO2 via suction support and silence alarms for trached patients. Description: ASAP start needed. Level II Trauma Center with air flight capabilities. Requires experience with Neuro strokes, stable craniotomies, CIWA, seizure precautions, and respiratory illnesses. Must be familiar with long-term trachs with vents and cases requiring Bipap or High Flow O2. Experience with post-operative care for general surgery, sepsis, and thyroid storm is necessary. Patient types include cardiac patients such as STEMI, NSTEMI, CHF, AFIB with RVR, and s/p cardiac cath or ablation. Patient ratio is 1:3-4 for RNs and 1:6-12 for techs depending on staffing. Requires skills for high-flow O2 management, chest tubes, wound vac care, and general drain/ostomy care. Must have experience starting IVs and providing trach care and suctioning. Cardiac experience should include managing temporary pacemakers, TR bands, and post-femoral sheath care. Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation is required. Experience with cardiac drips and insulin titration is necessary. Support on the unit includes CNAs, charge nurses, and resource nurses available 24/7. All charting will be done through a preferred electronic system. RNs may float to different departments based on assignment needs. Weekend rotation expected every other week. May be required to be on low census call-back. Time off requests will be submitted for manager approval. Holiday expectations will vary based on unit needs.
