Description The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) manages all aspects of perioperative care including pre‑operative assessment, the initiation and maintenance of general anesthesia and/or sedation, airway management, emergence, and post‑anesthesia care. The CRNA is responsible for preparing and administering anesthetic agents to surgical patients and for reversibly depressing bodily functions or otherwise desensitizing a patient to permit the performance of medical or surgical procedures. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Prepares and administers anesthetic agents to patients to desensitize them to permit the performance of medical or surgical procedures. Performs pre‑anesthesia evaluation of the patient to ascertain physiological and psychological factors influencing the selection of the anesthetic agent and the formulation of the anesthesia management plan. Monitors the patient in the operating room to maintain homeostasis and prevent unnecessary injuries. Records anesthetic information on the anesthesia chart to provide a permanent record necessary for patient care, teaching, study, and medical‑legal documentation. Maintains an appropriate professional appearance and demeanor in accordance with company policies. Actively shares ideas constructively and positively by listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others. Keeps commitments and keeps the direct supervisor informed of work progress, timetables, and issues. Advocates and assists in maintaining a clean, neat, and cheerful environment where patients feel comfortable. Maintains strict compliance with state, federal, and other regulations (e.g., OSHA, WC, HIPAA, ADA, FEHA, DOL, HR policies and practices). Performs other duties as assigned by management. REQUIREMENTS Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia degree from an accredited California Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) program. Experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center setting. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Experience in the ophthalmology industry with multiple surgery center locations. Experience in staff training. Experience with regulatory and accreditation surveys (AAAHC Accreditation). CERTIFICATES, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS Certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist approved and accepted by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing. Valid BLS card (American Heart Association). Valid ACLS card (American Heart Association). WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment is primarily a clinical surgery center classification, working in a sterile environment. Temperature conditions are controlled with some direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. The noise level is usually low to moderate. The employee regularly encounters doctors, staff, vendors, and patients. Working duties require frequent sitting, standing, walking, keyboard use, hand movements, and lifting or carrying reports or records that typically weigh less than 20 pounds. Occasional stooping, kneeling, bending, or crouching may be required.
