Printpack is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Extruder Assistant for the Converting plant in Grand Prairie, TX. The Extruder Assistant is a crucial support position working alongside the Extruder Operator to ensure efficient production operations in a manufacturing environment. This role combines hands-on technical support with material handling responsibilities, requiring attention to detail and strong organizational skills. The position involves preparing and managing materials for lamination processes, maintaining resin supplies, and ensuring proper waste management while adhering to strict quality and safety standards. This position is fundamental to maintaining smooth production flow while supporting quality standards and safety protocols in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This will be a 3/2 rotating day shift schedule from 7am-7pm: Sun/Wed/Thurs; Mon/Tues/Fri/Sat.Key Responsibilities:Assist Extruder Operator with overall machine operations and maintenancePrepare, load, and manage rolls for lamination on both primary and secondary unwindsMonitor and maintain resin supply, ensuring proper placement and stockingHandle material waste management, including weighing, removal, and balingClean and maintain equipment, particularly NIP roll during setup and downtimePerform daily housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and organized workspaceMeet quality standards and production goals while minimizing wasteTrain other assistants on essential job functionsEnsure safety protocols are followed during all operationsCommunicate effectively with other departments regarding mechanical issues, materials, and shift informationSupport job changeovers and preparations as neededMaintain accurate documentation of production activities and material usageEducation & Experience:Must be 18 years or olderDemonstrated stable work historyProblem-solving capabilitiesManufacturing experience preferredRequired Skills:Basic computer proficiency including emailAbility to accurately read and use measuring toolsSelf-directed and task-oriented with the ability to multitaskStrong attention to detailGood organizational skillsBasic math and measurement skillsAbility to follow detailed instructionsPhysical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift materials as requiredGood communication skillsAdditional Requirements:Must be at least 18 years of ageMust pass pre-employment assessmentsDrug screening requiredBackground check requiredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Basic understanding of extrusion processes and equipmentKnowledge of safety protocols and proceduresUnderstanding of quality control standardsKnowledge of material handling proceduresBasic mathematical concepts and measurementsUnderstanding of inventory management principlesAbility to accurately read and use measuring toolsStrong time management capabilitiesUnderstand Basic equipment maintenance and cleaningAttention to detailAbility to follow written and verbal instructionsEffective communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPhysical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:Capability to lift and move up to 50 poundsAbility to climb, kneel, bend, and squatProficiency in grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine motor skillsManual dexterity for machine operation and maintenanceAbility to climb ladders safelyCapacity to stand and walk for extended periodsAbility to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift and pallet jacksWork Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to:Noise levels above 80 dBOperation of complex machinerySolvents, fumes and inksVariable TemperaturesMust be able to work flexible shiftsMay require nights, weekends, and holidaysAn additional $2.50/hr premium for NIGHT Shift only between the hours of 7pm-7am.
