A Day in the Life of a Clinical Manager
Under direction of the Director or Administrator, the Clinical Manager has 24-hour responsibility for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the hospital and the nursing department and their effect on patient care outcomes in a designated unit. The Clinical Manager has authority to make decisions on the unit and the responsibility and accountability for the nursing staff and the delivery of patient care.

Here is What You Will Be Doing:
- Provides leadership, guidance, and support to all direct reports.
- Serves as a role model and coach for service excellence and patient experience.
- Assures an environment of teamwork and collaboration by fostering effective positive communications, giving and receiving feedback, and modeling the behaviors of honesty, integrity, and trust.
- Demonstrates excellent professional and clinical skills, utilizing the nursing process to facilitate the direct and indirect care necessary to meet patient needs and improve outcomes.
- Rounds on patients to ensure highest quality of care and patient experience.
- Assists the nursing staff in the delivery of direct patient care as needed.
- Supports the principles of Relationship Based Care.
- Provides oversight and ensure the smooth operation of the unit in collaboration with the Director.
- Prepares the staffing, operating, and capital budgets annually.
- Monitor monthly financial reports to ensure the unit remains within established budget.
- Ensures that scheduling provides appropriate staff coverage for the unit. Assure that the workload is utilized appropriately.
- Interviews, hires, and supervises/facilitates orientations for all new employees.
- Promotes ongoing staff development and collaboration with the staff in the competency process.
- Promotes a culture of safety and quality.
- Maintains a safe environment for the patients, families, and staff.
- Assure that the National Patient Safety Standards and quality measure are met.
- Collaborates with the medical staff to ensure the highest level of care for specific patient populations.
- Collaborates with the nursing staff and director to resolve patient, family, or physician complaints in coordination with service excellence and patient satisfaction standards.
- Maintains professional standards by integration of the American Nurse Association’s Scope & Standards of Practice, assuring that these standards are identified as the measurement criteria for nursing practice on the unit.
- Completes mandatory staff in-services, education and contact education requirements.
- Must comply with department or unit regulatory, licensing and accreditation requirements.
- Provides operational leadership and has budget responsibilities.
- Adheres to established leadership competencies, service standards and reinforces excellence in those standards with subordinates.

- Attention to details; ability to assess, evaluate, explain, teach, problem solve using critical thinking and perform calculations within the scope of duties
- Able to handle many stressors simultaneously
- Ability to interact respectfully with diverse cultural and socio-economic populations
Here is What You Need:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited school of nursing
- License (must meet one of the following):
- Current Wyoming Registered Nurse (RN) License from the Wyoming State Board of Nursing
- Current enhanced Nurse Licensure (eNLC)
- Three (3) or more years of experience in an acute care setting or related field
- 14 Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date
Nice to Have:
- Master’s degree from an accredited school of nursing
- Prior management/staffing experience
