_*Classification:*_Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). This is a full-time position providing mental health services in a rural health clinic in Harlan, Kentucky.
_*Job Summary:*_The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) will provide outpatient mental health services to individuals across the lifespan, including patients who have dual diagnoses. _*Duties and Responsibilities:*_ ***Promote the mission of Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) and the clinics mission to all employees, patients, and to the community at large; *promote effective working relationships among employees, patients, and to the community at large; *demonstrate proficiency in collaboration with staff to provide complete mental health services to patients across the lifespan; *demonstrate complete responsibility for patients to whom professional services are rendered; *faithfully adhere to all professional standards, including all federal and state fraud and abuse laws, and regulations relating to documenting medical records of professional services to patients; *adhere to regulations applying to the professional standards by the Kentucky professional licensing boards; *maintain safe keeping of confidential information without compromise to any ARH confidential or proprietary information; *assess patient status by obtaining health history through patient/family interviews and chart reviews; assessing/presenting illness, risk factors, family history, psychosocial situation, and cultural factors; and performing appropriate psychiatric evaluation; *order/perform appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests; *seek other information as needed, including consultation with physicians and other clinicians, for evaluation of illness; *integrate data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including identification of any mental health and healthcare risks; *develop and implements treatment plan by prescribing/dispensing medications and/or injections in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws; *instruct patient/family regarding medications and treatments; *educate patients regarding mental health promotion/illness prevention; *recommend appropriate community resources to meet patient/family needs; *prepare documentation for medical records including updating patient medical chart by posting examination and test results, diagnoses, medications, and treatment in written/computerized manner; *participate in peer reviews, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guideline development, and other continuing education and quality assurance activities to demonstrate compliance with standards, regulations, policies, and procedures; *promote patient advocacy; *completion of required institutional/program accreditation and other reports as necessary; *supervise students on rotations as agreed and assigned; *collect data on number of patient visits per month, categories of visits (such as anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, etc.), number needing referrals, and how many were new versus follow-up visits; and *perform other duties as assigned. _*Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*_ *excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to complete multiple assignments, *ability to meet deadlines and exercise independent judgment; *understand and comply with policies and procedures of ARH; *excellent organizational skills oriented to detail; *sufficient mastery of the assigned discipline; *excellent interpersonal skills. _*Qualifications:*_Required: *graduation from a regional accredited University/College with a minimum of a masters degree in nursing with a specialty in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; *current ANCC certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; *unrestricted license to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse where direct services will be provided; *unrestricted DEA registration where direct services will be provided; *no suspension/exclusion/ debarment from participation in federal or state health care programs.
