Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/ Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer in support of the Sentinel AVE System Engineering & Integration (SE&I) Team. This position is located: Manhattan Beach, CA .

This position will support the AVE SE&I EDI team to support electrical design activities and provide AVE power budget management. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic and must possess fundamental electrical engineering skills. Demonstrated ability to foster diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including receiving mentoring and coaching from leads is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, and the ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in collaborating with Engineering teams and associated stakeholders.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Establishes and maintains accurate power requirements throughout the product development
• Supports power system designs, power load management, power distribution and will release power system deliverables
• Works with system engineering for requirement definition and flow-down
• Supports design engineering for electrical analysis, power architecture development, and part selection
• Supports internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings
• Supports program milestone reviews and delivers leadership status updates.
• Ensures appropriate coordination between AVE electrical power design and other integration teams.
• May perform research, evaluation, and systems integration in electrical or electro-mechanical systems, cables, connectors, power systems, and more.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills to work effectively to understand system level interdependencies that impact electrical requirements and design constraints.
• Demonstrate leadership principles – Integrity, respect, organizational, communication etc.
  

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with at least 5 years of related experience with bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline; or 3 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree; or 1 years of relevant experience with a PhD
• Position can be filled one level higher - Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with at least 8 years of related experience with bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline; or 6 years of relevant experience with a master’s degree; or 4 years of relevant experience with a PhD
• Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance.

• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

• Electrical engineering experience in electrical architecture, power system design and analysis, and/or power components.

• Experience with power load management

• Knowledgeable with Siemens Teamcenter PLM or equivalent.

• Knowledgeable utilizing power system design and analysis software tool (ETAP) or equivalent

• Comfortable with understanding industry codes, standards, specifications, and mil-specs.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc).
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working experience utilizing power system design, and/or analysis software tools, such as ETAP, PSS/E, SKM or PSCAD.

• Working experience designing, troubleshooting (RCA) and/or implementing facility power systems and/or launch vehicle power systems.

• Knowledge of EMI/EMC design, shielding techniques, and thermal management for electronic systems.

• Experience with Siemens Teamcenter PLM.

• Electrical design experience in CAD (e.g., NX, Revit).

• Experience with creating and executing schedule & technical recovery plans.

• Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, milestone reviews, and government contracting.

• Experience in maintaining and reporting status of program activities

• Experience with high-power and/or high-frequency systems, including power electronics.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
