• Full-time, 32 hour per week
• Variable shift
• Every other weekend
• Holiday rotation

Position Summary:

The Ultrasound Technologist (Medical Sonographer) performs a complete range of high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations, using advanced sonographic techniques and equipment. They assist radiologists with image-guided procedures while ensuring safe, accurate, and compassionate care across all patient populations, from infants to geriatrics. The sonographer provides patient centered care supporting departmental goals related to quality, safety, education and continuous improvement.

What you will do:

• Prepare and operate ultrasound equipment to produce diagnostic images.
• Review physician orders, perform chart reviews, and evaluate prior studies to determine the correct exam and protocols.
• Perform sonographic examinations including:
  - General abdominal and small parts
  - Obstetric and gynecologic
  - Breast (if applicable)
  - Musculoskeletal (MSK) (if applicable)
  • Pediatric imaging (if applicable)
    - Vascular imaging (as required by site)

• Prepare patients for exams and explain procedures to ensure comfort, safety, and awareness.
• Perform portable and intraoperative ultrasound exams (if needed) in environments such as the OR, ICU, and bedside settings.
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and assist radiologists with ultrasound-guided procedures.
• Maintain inventory of stock and cleanliness of work areas; prepares and cleans the room as needed.
• Accurately record patient and exam data in the required imaging systems, ensuring proper documentation and labeling of images.
• Evaluate images for quality and diagnostic value.
• Identify, document and communicate abnormalities for physician review.
• Support scheduling adjustments and accommodate add-on exams.
• Assist with patient transportation as needed and coordinate workflow with other departments.
• Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members, maintaining good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approach conflict constructively and offer solutions to achieve resolution.
• Assume responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, using proper ergonomics to assure personal safety and that of coworkers.
• Assist with charge capture, scheduling coordination, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with safety, infection control and standard precautions.
• Report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
• Perform high-level disinfection of transducers using Trophon or equivalent systems, ensuring proper documentation and maintenance.
• Contribute to training and orientation of students and new staff, share knowledge through in services and mentorship.
• May be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and at off-site locations as deemed necessary by leadership.
• Participate in on-call rotations as required by the department and adjust schedule and location as necessary.
• Maintain BLS certification and ARDMS credentialing, including required continuing education credits.
• Complete annual competencies, education modules, and department specific training as required.

What you wi l l need:

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program preferred.

Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of clinical sonography work experience preferred.

• Proficiency in sonographic techniques.
• Ability to recognize normal anatomical and pathological conditions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Certification/Licensure:

• Active ARDMS certification.
• BLS certification required.
