We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to support a healthcare organization in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who can step into a fast-paced billing environment, help reduce aged receivables, and keep daily revenue cycle activity moving efficiently. You will partner with billing and finance leaders to improve claim turnaround, address payment issues, and strengthen overall billing performance.

Responsibilities:
• Review, prepare, and submit medical claims with accuracy to ensure timely reimbursement across multiple payer types, including commercial plans and government programs.
• Investigate billing discrepancies, make necessary claim updates, and resubmit corrected claims to minimize delays in payment.
• Apply incoming payments, balance billing records, and reconcile account activity to maintain accurate financial data.
• Track and work denied or underpaid claims by identifying root causes, pursuing corrections, and coordinating next steps for resolution.
• Conduct consistent insurance follow-up and collection efforts to reduce outstanding accounts receivable balances.
• Respond to patient billing questions professionally and provide clear guidance on charges, payments, and account status.
• Assist with appeals, reimbursement recovery efforts, and supporting documentation needed to secure appropriate payment.
• Maintain organized billing records and ensure documentation is complete, current, and aligned with compliance expectations.
• Collaborate with the Billing Manager and finance team to address backlog challenges and support ongoing revenue cycle improvement initiatives.• At least 2 years of experience in medical billing within a healthcare or related setting.
• Working knowledge of revenue cycle processes, including claim submission, payment posting, denials, and accounts receivable follow-up.
• Experience handling medical collections and managing outstanding balances in a high-volume billing environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with electronic billing platforms and claims processing tools; exposure to Sage and Epaces is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for tracking billing activity, reviewing data, and supporting reporting needs.
• Understanding of medical claims workflows involving commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams while managing multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.
