Job Summary:

\n

The OB/GYN physician provides comprehensive, patient-centered obstetrical and gynecological care to women throughout all stages of life. The physician is responsible for preventive care, diagnosis, treatment, prenatal care, labor and delivery, surgical procedures, family planning, and management of acute and chronic gynecologic conditions. This position promotes high-quality clinical outcomes while supporting the mission, values, and quality standards of the organization. The OB/GYN Physician delivers evidence-based care to medically underserved populations while emphasizing preventive medicine, health education, continuity of care, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Duties and Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Women's Preventive Health
\n
• Perform comprehensive annual well-woman examinations.
\n
• Conduct cervical cancer screening, breast examinations, and preventive health assessments
\n
• Diagnose and manage common gynecologic conditions
\n
• Provide menopause management and counseling
\n
• Promote healthy lifestyle choices and preventive care
\n
• Obstetrical Care
\n
• Provide comprehensive prenatal care from conception through delivery, where appropriate and credentialed
\n
• Manage both routine and high-risk pregnancies within the physician's scope of practice
\n
• Perform labor and delivery services
\n
• Conduct postpartum evaluations and follow-up care
\n
• Coordinate care with Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists when appropriate
\n
• Interpret fetal monitoring and diagnostic testing
\n

\n

Gynecologic Care

\n

\n
• Diagnose and treat disorders of the female reproductive system
\n
• Evaluate abnormal uterine bleeding, pelvic pain, infertility, endometriosis, ovarian disorders, and sexually transmitted infections
\n

\n

Perform office procedures including:

\n

\n
• Endometrial biopsy
\n
• Colposcopy
\n
• IUD insertion and removal
\n
• Nexplanon insertion and removal
\n
• Cervical biopsies
\n
• Incision and drainage procedures
\n
• Provide family planning services and contraceptive counseling
\n

\n

Surgical Services

\n

\n
• May perform surgical procedures consistent with hospital privileges, including:
\n
• Cesarean section
\n
• Hysterectomy
\n
• Dilation and Curettage (D&C)
\n
• Laparoscopic procedures
\n
• Tubal ligation
\n
• Treatment of ectopic pregnancy
\n
• Other gynecologic surgeries as credentialed
\n

\n

Diagnostic Services

\n

\n
• Order and interpret laboratory tests
\n
• Order and interpret diagnostic imaging
\n
• Perform pelvic ultrasounds when appropriately credentialed
\n
• Develop treatment plans based on diagnostic findings
\n
• Pregnancy
\n
• Family planning
\n
• Breast health
\n
• Menopause
\n
• Nutrition
\n
• Sexual health
\n
• Chronic disease prevention
\n
• Encourage patient engagement in preventive health initiatives

Required Skills/Abilities

• Education
\n
• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
\n

\n

Required Licensure & Certifications

\n

\n
• Current unrestricted Texas medical license
\n
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
\n
• Current DEA registration or eligible for registration
\n
• Current Texas Controlled Substance Registration (if applicable)
\n
• Current BLS Certification
\n
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred
\n
• ACLS certification preferred
\n
• Hospital privileges (if performing deliveries or surgeries)
\n
• Required Skills and Experience

• Completion of an accredited OB/GYN residency
\n
• Experience providing obstetrical and gynecological care
\n
• Preferred Skills and Experience
\n
• Experience in an FQHC or community health center
\n
• Experience serving underserved populations
\n
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
\n
