8209 - Respiratory Therapist II PRN Non-NICU

Work Shift: Night (United States of America) Job Summary The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate‑and‑treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex, multiple‑problem scenarios, primarily in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management and significant independent decision‑making. In addition to patient care, the RT II provides patient, family/support system education, coordinates activities, and engages in staff development and professional growth. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Completion of patient care, documentation and education. Promote a team spirit and positive work environment; provide supportive environment for students and staff. Perform patient assessment for therapy and collaborate with healthcare team members in planning patient care. Verify orders and administer aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen medical gas therapy. Perform ventilator management, weaning, waveform graphic interpretation, airway management (intubation, extubation, trach tube change and care). Perform arterial blood gas sampling and analysis. Educate patients and mentor/precept new employees, students and peers. Assist in invasive and non‑invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, and pulmonary diagnostic testing. Promote current and accurate electronic orders, charting and charging. Promote a high level of patient safety (Medication Safety, NPSG, etc.). Promote Performance Improvement initiatives designed to promote quality care. Promote evidence‑based practice. Review revised and new DPPs. Required Minimum Education Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC or CAAHP) with at least 20 quarter hours of science. Associate's Degree (A.S. degree required). Bachelor's Degree (Preferred). Required Licenses and Certifications Registered Respiratory Therapy 1.00 Respiratory Care Prof 2.00 Basic Life Support 3.00 BLS – Instructor 3.00 BLS – Provisional 3.00 Advanced Cardiac Life Support 4.00 ACLS – Instructor 4.00 ACLS – Provisional 4.00 Required Minimum Experience 0–2 years clinical experience with a minimum of 6 months in critical care. Required Minimum Skills Strong communication and critical thinking skills; ability to establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
