Nutrition Technician

Nutrition AssistantUnder general supervision and within established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, performs daily activities to assist patients in interpreting, selecting and correcting daily menus according to physician's orders. Functions as a resource to the nutrition assistants; functions as a liaison between Nutrition Office and MD's offices for scheduling of outpatient appointments and authorization of those appointments. Maintains outpatient appointment scheduling.Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent.Licenses/Certification: N/ARequired Qualifications and Skills: Minimum of 6 months of experience as Nutrition Assistant or equivalent position in a hospital setting Command of verbal and written English Positive interpersonal communication and good organizational skills Thorough knowledge of therapeutic diets. Ability to serve as a resource for nutrition assistants Ability to multi-task, handle interruptions and work effectively in a fast-paced, professional office environment Ability to efficiently and accurately obtain necessary insurance information Ability to communicate effectively with various offices, personnel and staff Proficiency in technology usage Excellent telephone etiquettePreferred Qualifications and Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills Detail oriented with ability to prioritize effectively Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks as appropriateEssential Job Functions: Ability to efficiently and accurately correct patient menus according to therapeutic diets; ability efficiently and accurately obtain patient data as it related to the insurance authorization process; ability to communicate with various offices, personnel and staff; good telephone etiquette.Other duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
