Project Accountant II

Overview Next 150 Construction, a fully owned subsidiary of Gilbane Building Company, is seeking an Accountant II. This mid‑level professional will handle project accounting and financial forecasting for small to mid‑sized jobs, including day‑to‑day interface with project management, clients, and subcontractors. The role is primarily office‑based with occasional travel to project sites to meet with teams and subcontractors. Responsibilities Manage contracts, amendments, insurance, bonds, SOV, files, and CO policies Review requisitions and lien waivers accurately and timely Prepare and format project financial forecasts to meet internal and client reporting needs Conduct monthly project forecast meetings and maintain accurate ETCs for labor and expenses Ensure timely management of accounts receivable and payables Oversee the project financial closeout process Develop and maintain positive professional relationships internally and externally Assist with the development of contract abstracts Participate in internal and external audits as directed Review Work in Process (WIP) on assigned projects and explain variances and balances Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field 3‑8 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word Ability to learn construction management and payment management software Knowledge of overall project execution processes, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, scheduling, and profitability Understanding of construction industry insurance products and pricing components Effective listening and clear communication tailored to diverse audiences Inclusive behavior that demonstrates empathy and respect for others Problem‑solving skills with the ability to prioritize and implement solutions Agility and adaptability in responding to change and collaborating with others Passion and commitment to deliver business outcomes with ownership and accountability Drive to identify and implement innovative solutions that add value Benefits Gilbane offers extensive training opportunities through Gilbane University, a top training organization in the construction industry.
