Registered Nurse - Substance Use Disorder Residential Program

Job Summary

Join Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services (CARS) at their 60-bed residential program for men, located in rural Trumansburg, NY. This program is dedicated to providing comprehensive rehabilitation for individuals with substance use disorder.

As a Registered Professional Nurse, you will deliver direct patient care within a fast-paced, multi-faceted department. Your role is crucial in observing, collecting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating the physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of patients.

This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a patient-centered environment, ensuring high-quality care, maintaining regulatory compliance, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to support the recovery journey of adult men.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to a designated group of patients within the residential program.
• Conduct comprehensive physical and mental health assessments, including vital signs, risk assessments, and withdrawal assessments (e.g., COWS) as indicated by Part 820 regulations.
• Administer and monitor prescribed treatment regimens and medications.
• Observe and report behavioral changes in patients accurately and concisely.
• Maintain control of drugs and medications in accordance with facility policies and regulations.
• Triage emergent client medical issues and coordinate care with nursing staff, Physician Assistants (PAs), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), the Medical Director, and outside providers.
• Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner, utilizing appropriate formats and forms.
• Maintain 24-hour accountability for the quality of care provided to clients.
• Ensure compliance with OASAS/Medicaid regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with the Director of Nursing, Direct Care Staff, Counselors, Clinical Directors, other Department Managers, and the Compliance Manager in Quality Assessment, Assurance, and Performance Improvement Activities.
• Respect and integrate cultural and religious practices into patient care.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Demonstrated experience in direct patient care.
• Ability to perform comprehensive physical and mental health assessments.
• Proficiency in medication administration and monitoring.
• Strong observational, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to effectively triage emergent medical issues.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and accountability.
• Knowledge of OASAS/Medicaid regulatory compliance.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in substance use disorder treatment or addiction recovery.
• Experience working in a residential rehabilitation setting.
