Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Level III Trauma, STEMI, and Stroke Receiving emergency department averaging approximately 70 patients per day
• Manage a patient assignment of 1:3–4 depending on acuity, including care of ER holds intermixed within the department
• Independently read and interpret cardiac monitor strips; perform EKGs as required
• Administer and monitor common ER drips including pressors and sedation; troubleshoot respiratory equipment (nasal cannula through ventilators)
• Staff triage and Fast Track areas as needed; may be asked to precept staff on an as-needed basis
• Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam (83% or higher) prior to contract start; three attempts permitted

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the state of Texas
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
• EPIC EMR experience required (position supports an EPIC conversion)
• Minimum 2 years of emergency room nursing experience
• Ability to work night shifts with every other weekend commitment
• Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time or part-time) by a CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year; candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with pediatric emergency patients; this facility is the only area hospital that admits pediatric patients
• Familiarity with cardiac, stroke, and trauma patient populations
• Experience managing common ER drips including vasopressors and sedation agents
• Prior travel nursing experience welcomed; first-time travelers will be considered
