Facilities Mechanic The department of Laundry Services intends to hire a Facilities Mechanic at either the Facilities Mechanic I, II, or III classification based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. Responsibilities Follow and maintain the department’s preventive maintenance schedule. Diagnose and assist with equipment systems malfunctions and repair them in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications. Provide data entry support for the department’s preventative maintenance software system. Keep maintenance shop area and storage areas organized, ensuring all tools are in proper working condition. Location & Schedule Location: Laundry Services Building, 2000 Cross Park Road, Coralville, IA 52242 Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 4:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (overtime may be required) Compensation Facilities Mechanic I: $36,707.04 Facilities Mechanic II: $38,419.20 Facilities Mechanic III: $48,713.04 Minimum Eligibility Requirements Facilities Mechanic I: Ability to read, write, and follow directions. Facilities Mechanic II: Two years’ experience in general mechanical or electrical maintenance or other building facilities construction work. Facilities Mechanic III: Must possess a basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment. Facilities Mechanic III: Must have four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training; at least two years of that experience must be in the same craft. Desired Qualifications Knowledge of laundry/industrial equipment and methods used in maintenance work. Knowledge of safe working practices. Ability to work in a variety of environments including confined spaces, low light areas, at heights, with exposure to extreme temperatures. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work with and around a welcoming culture. Good communication skills and experience working on a team. Experience with laundry/industrial system programs, high‑pressure steam systems, microprocessor controls, or HVAC systems is preferred for higher classifications.
