Job TitleCT TechnologistEmployment Type:Full timeShift:Night ShiftDescription:$12,000 New Hire Sign on Bonus Wed-Sat 830p-7aMission Statement :We, St Joseph's Health and Trinity Health, serve together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within our communities.Vision:To be world-renowned for passionate patient care and outstanding clinical outcomes.Core Values:In the spirit of good Stewardship, we heal by practicing Justice in fostering right relationships to promote common good, Reverence in honoring the dignity of every person, Excellence in expecting the best of ourselves and others; Integrity in being faithful to who we say we are.Position Summary:The CT Technologist, under direct supervision, utilizes computerized tomography scanners to produce cross-section images of patient's internal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues.Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:Education:Completion of a two-year approved School of Radiologic TechnologyExperience:A minimum of two years' experience as a Radiologic Technologist is strongly preferred.Licensure:Valid New York State radiology registration as required by state lawCertification:Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology.Current CPR/BLS Certification.CT certification is required within one year from hire date.Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe CT Technologist is expected to practice safe procedures and adheres to radiation safety measures under the supervision of the Radiology supervisor or the Radiologist. Specific duties may include but are not limited to:Accurately interpret a physician's scanning instructionsAdminister contrast materialPrepare and operate CT scan equipmentAbility to position patient to capture appropriate imagesSend images to Radiologist for interpretation/readingCleans and disinfects scanner and exam roomsFollow infection control and safety guidelinesThe Computed Tomography Technologist must demonstrate an understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and medical terminology.The Computed Tomography Technologist must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques.Computed Tomography Technologists are the primary liaison between patients and radiologists and other members of the support team.Computed Tomography Technologists use professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking when performing their duties.Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Skilled in the operation of CT scan equipmentAttention to detailBasic understanding of computer technologyPerform all duties using proper body mechanics.Frequently move/lift between 50-100 pounds, depending on assignment requirementsStand for long periods with frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling and reaching to prepare equipment, materials or objects in order to provide patient care or maintain the patient environmentManual dexterity and fine motor coordinationAbility to work in a stressful environmentAbility to follow directions/instructions from his/her supervisor.Consistent attendance is required to assure that department needs, and patient needs are met.To comply with Hospital policies, procedures and practicesOur CommitmentRooted in our Mission and Core Values, we honor the dignity of every person and recognize the unique perspectives, experiences, and talents each colleague brings.
