Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description

Our client, an innovative medical device company focused on diabetes care, is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to support the development and ongoing enhancement of embedded software for commercialized medical device products.

This engineer will contribute across two established embedded platforms, helping drive new development efforts while also investigating customer-reported issues, analyzing system logs, supporting software testing and verification activities, and maintaining documentation required within a regulated development environment.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in embedded software development, hands-on RTOS experience, and enjoys solving complex technical challenges while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-quality products.

Skills and Requirements

• 5–10+ years of embedded software or firmware development experience (3+ years may be considered for the right candidate).

• Strong C/C++ programming experience developing embedded software for microcontroller-based systems.

• Hands-on experience developing software within an RTOS environment (FreeRTOS, ThreadX, Zephyr, or similar).

• Experience troubleshooting embedded software, investigating product issues, and analyzing system logs.

• Experience supporting software testing, verification, validation, and documentation activities.

• Ability to work effectively within a regulated development environment with defined quality and documentation processes.

• Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a willingness to learn and adapt. • Experience developing software for medical devices or other safety-critical products.

• Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) development, integration, or troubleshooting.

• Experience working with ARM Cortex-based microcontrollers.

• Familiarity with software design patterns and embedded software best practices.

• Experience supporting products throughout their full lifecycle, including post-release support and issue resolution.
