Range Safety InspectorLocation: Melrose Air Force Range, Clovis, NM Shift: Day (includes overtime, after-hours, and potential no-notice emergency support) Remote Type: No Clearance: Active DoD SECRET Clearance Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Years of Experience: Prior military range operations, weapons systems, or safety oversight experience preferredAt Altus Technology Solutions, we are seeking a Range Safety Inspector to support range operations at MAFR. Our RSIs ensure safe and compliant execution of both military and non-military training, coordinate with range users, and serve as a critical link between operational units and Range Control leadership.If you thrive in high-impact environments, have a strong understanding of weapons systems and safety protocols, and want to contribute to mission success, we'd love to have you on board!In this role, you will be a key safety authority on the range, ensuring compliance with all applicable instructions, integrating air and ground training, and maintaining readiness for both scheduled and emergency operations.Primary ResponsibilitiesServe as the on-site RSI from 30 minutes before range opening to range closing per normal operations hours.Support occasional overtime, after-hours operations (AOH), and no-notice emergency requirements.Submit a monthly RSI duty schedule to the COR at least 10 business days prior to the start of the month.Act as an adjunct to the Range Officer (RO), ensuring mission success under RO direction.Verify that all range activities are conducted by authorized personnel/organizations.Enforce compliance with all safety instructions, including weapons/ammunition inspections, troop certifications, and training event parameters.Oversee safe integration of air and ground training within MAFR restricted areas and boundaries.Inspect MOUT and other training sites to ensure they meet Range Management Office (RMO) standards and expectations for training purposes.Serve as liaison between range users and Range Control leadership for operational issues, maintenance integration, and range tours.Document and manage turnover of training areas and ranges, including pre- and post-event inspections.Provide safety expertise on direct-fire munitions, bombs, small arms, launchers, anti-tank weapons, mortars, mines, and air-to-ground gunnery.Assist in emergency situations by directing response vehicles, escorting agencies, or performing other duties as needed.Operate government-provided vehicle for RSI duties.QualificationsActive DOD SECRET clearance.Knowledge of military range operations, weapons systems, and training safety requirements.Strong communication and coordination skills.Ability to perform duties in a high-tempo, safety-critical environment.Flexibility to work overtime, AOH, and respond to no-notice emergencies.Specialized ExperiencePrior experience as a Range Safety Inspector or in a similar military range safety role.Familiarity with air and ground maneuver tactics, bombing and gunnery operations.Experience enforcing weapons safety compliance for multiple weapons systems.About AltusSince 2004, Altus Technology Solutions has been committed to providing top-quality, performance-driven services to both government and commercial clients.
