Internal Medicine Physician Assistant

Coverage Needed

• Start Date: 04/20/2026
• End Date: 10/24/2026
• Schedule: 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week

Clinical Details

• Provide comprehensive primary healthcare services to incarcerated individuals
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses
• Manage preventive care and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team
• Conduct thorough medical evaluations, physical examinations, and medical histories
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests
• Provide vaccinations and promote preventive care measures
• Monitor and manage chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, asthma, HIV/AIDS, and Hepatitis C
• Respond to medical emergencies within the correctional facility
• Collaborate with specialty care providers for consultations and referrals
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
• Adhere to patient confidentiality regulations

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in New Mexico
• Experience in providing primary care or relevant experience in correctional or underserved populations is preferred
• Strong assessment and diagnostic skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
• Ability to work effectively in a challenging and dynamic environment
• Must be at least board eligible to qualify for privileges
• US Citizenship required for ICE clearance
• English proficiency: Read, Write, Speak
• Must live outside of a 70 mile radius from site
