Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year in related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in state of Texas or compact Certifications: Current BLS certification Current ACLS certification Current PALS certification Current TNCC certification Must-Have: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred Description: The competent nurse practices independently in a clinical setting. Provides routine and complex care. Demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation. Meets the expectations of applicable competencies. Consistent with the nursing scope and standards of practice, provides nursing care using the nursing process. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families. Utilizes appropriate protocols to administer medications and treatments. Monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments. Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers. Identifies issues and resources. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is expected.
