Business System Analyst

Business Systems Analyst / Extendable W2 only 6-month Contract / Onsite 1 day per week, New York, NY $28-32/hr. W2 Pay Rate Summary The Business Systems Analyst will be a key member of the Premium Brands team, working closely with the Product Manager, Engineering, and cross-functional teams (UX, Merchandising, Marketing, Finance) to drive technology that supports the brands on the Shopify platform. This role oversees requirements, analysis, and planning to ensure magical, unified omni-channel experiences that deliver real business value. The analyst is a strategic partner responsible for translating complex business needs into actionable technical requirements. Responsibilities Collaborate with the Product Manager and key stakeholders to develop the Technology delivery roadmap for Premium Brands. Gather, interpret, and document detailed requirements, business rules, process flows, and use cases to drive successful feature delivery. Serve as the subject matter expert in the functional area, championing the needs of the customer and business stakeholders throughout project execution. Follow and champion agile methodologies, actively maintaining the Jira backlog by creating, refining, and prioritizing user stories with Engineering and Analytics teams. Define metrics of success and analyze results to proactively identify opportunities and enhancements for the platform. Manage change requests in relation to project plans to ensure agreed-upon deadlines are met. Support daily end-users, troubleshoot technical issues, and improve processes by communicating needs and documenting requirements for system enhancements. Work with the Enterprise Account Manager at Shopify and the Engineering lead to bring new features and functionality to life. Drive Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) activities, acting as the subject matter expert for systems like Centric and Bamboo Rose. Support merchandising and financial planning solutions (e.g., S5 Stratos, Anaplan) to ensure seamless data flow and process adoption. Conduct requirement analysis for data insights and reporting, translating business needs into technical specifications for visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Looker). Required Skills 1-3 years of relevant experience, supporting retail, e-commerce, and/or data technology systems is a plus. Knowledge of Agile methodology and the software development life cycle. Experience with the Shopify Platform is strongly preferred. Experience working with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools (e.g., Bamboo Rose, Centric) and Planning systems (e.g., S5 Stratos, Anaplan), in addition to Data Visualization tools (Looker, Tableau). Strong ability to understand business processes and translate pain points into technical requirements. Experienced using key project documentation tools (activity diagrams, process flows, user stories, test case definitions). Proven data-driven mindset and ability to research and analyze data to find solutions to complex problems.
