About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Acute Care (Med Surg) Duration: 17 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in hospital med surg units License: Active RN License required Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS Must-Have: - Minimum of 1 year experience in hospital med surg units - Strict 75-mile radius rule Description: The position requires a nurse to work in an acute care environment. The unit consists of 36 beds. The nurse will be responsible for a patient ratio of 6:1 with support staff available. The common diagnoses include CHF, COPD, ESRD, pneumonia, renal failure, sickle cell crisis, orthopedic surgery, bariatric surgery, altered mental status, and sepsis. All nurses are required to work every other weekend and on holidays. Charting will be completed using the MEDITECH system. The team consists of hospitalists available 24/7. Nurses may occasionally float to other areas as needed. The dress code includes white tops and hunter green pants. Clinicians will not be responsible for reading strips or managing vents. Consultation with a PICC team may be required for IV needs. There is respiratory therapy available 24/7.
