Payroll Accountant

Payroll Accountant Sacramento, CA $70,000 - $75,000/yr Do you have at least three years of payroll experience with ADP Workforce Now? Are you looking to join a great team to support with payroll and accounting? We are looking for a payroll specialist for a Direct Hire role in Sacramento, CA. The ideal candidate will have experience processing payroll in ADP Workforce Now, have non-profit or multi-entity industry experience, and be able to thrive in a fast-aced environment. Responsibilities Process bi-weekly payroll for multiple nonprofit entities, including employee earnings, deductions, benefits, garnishments, and tax withholdings. Review timesheets, leave balances, and payroll changes to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Prepare payroll reports, reconcile payroll-related accounts, and coordinate payroll tax filings and year-end reporting, including W-2s. Prepare monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and assist with month-end and year-end close activities. Reconcile bank and investment accounts and support the preparation of financial statements and management reports. Review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, assist with grant reporting, and prepare required tax and regulatory filings while maintaining audit-ready documentation. Qualifications 3+ years of payroll and accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit or multi-entity organization. Experience processing payroll using ADP Workforce Now required. Strong understanding of payroll regulations, payroll tax reporting, and accounting principles. Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and month-end close processes. Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software systems. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong communication skills with the ability to handle confidential employee and financial information. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
