Medical Collector (Profee)
Addison Group is partnering with a healthcare organization seeking a Medical Collector to support physician billing collections. This role is ideal for an experienced collector who can step in quickly, work high-volume accounts, and resolve claims efficiently in a fast-paced revenue cycle environment.
The Medical Collector will be responsible for insurance follow-up, denial resolution, and appeals for physician (profee) claims. This role requires strong analytical skills, payer communication experience, and the ability to manage a backlog of accounts while maintaining accuracy and productivity.
This is a contract role expected to last several months, with the potential for extension.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform insurance follow-up on outstanding physician (CMS-1500) claims.
- Resolve denials, rejections, and underpayments through payer communication.
- Submit and manage appeals (both verbal and written).
- Analyze EOBs and remittance advice to determine next steps for claim resolution.
- Work assigned accounts through full resolution.
- Manage correspondence with insurance payers and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate and detailed account documentation.
- Meet productivity expectations of approximately 35 accounts per day.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of physician (profee) medical collections experience required.
- Must have strong experience handling appeals and denials.
- Experience working directly with insurance payers (phone and written communication).
- Strong ability to read and analyze EOBs.
- Experience with PPO, HMO, Medicare, and Medi-Cal preferred.
- Experience with Cerner, Soarian, or similar EMR systems required.
- OB or maternity billing experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Reliable and team-oriented with the ability to work independently.

- Schedule: MondayFriday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM (flexibility available after onboarding)
