House Supervisor (RN)Registered Nurse Behavioral Health

Westpark Springs-Behavioral Health Hospital, Richmond, Texas House Supervisor, Registered Nurse (RN), Behavioral Health (Full‑time Days) Job Type: Full-time Days About the role Oversees nursing and hospital operations during assigned shifts to ensure quality general and psychiatric patient care. Supervises staffing and scheduling, provides direct nursing care, and supports department managers with education, discipline, and compliance. Responsibilities Manage scheduling and staffing for the nursing department, ensure coverage, minimize overtime and agency use, and approve or deny time‑off requests. Monitor staff attendance, maintain records of tardiness and absences, and assist the Director of Nursing with payroll. Provide backup nursing and intake assistance, respond to patient needs, and advocate for patients. Supervise hospital operations when administration is not present, oversee staff performance, and provide coaching and education as needed. Conduct staff evaluations and deliver disciplinary actions professionally and promptly. Assist the Director of Nursing in conducting department meetings, document attendance, and prepare meeting minutes. Provide support to the intake department as necessary. Maintain knowledge of regulatory standards (TJC, Medicaid, state and federal laws) and ensure compliance. Perform conflict resolution and mediation with staff, involving appropriate leadership when necessary. Conduct thorough investigations, collect and document accurate information, and provide reports to appropriate parties. Demonstrate comprehensive nursing skills including assessments, treatment planning, admission and discharge procedures, medication administration, and delivery of direct patient care as needed. Ensure documentation is timely, accurate, and complete and deliver quality nursing care to achieve treatment plan goals. Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift. Determines staffing level and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity and work/patient flow. Provides direct patient care as needed. Floats between staff to assist with problem‑solving. May take patient assignments to meet staffing needs. Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes. Responds to complaints about patient care and related services, and manages through established channels. Performs role‑specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers. Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care. Integrates evidence‑based practices into operations and clinical protocols. Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Initiates weekend case management, Utilization review screening, assists with discharge planning and swing intake. Current Registered Nurse license required by state regulations. One year of experience in a psychiatric health care facility preferred. One year of experience in a nursing leadership/management role preferred. Experience in a psychiatric, chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, or geriatric setting preferred; experience in patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, and communication with external review organizations. CPR certification required within 30 days of employment. De‑escalation certification required within 30 days of employment. Westpark Springs is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
