Job Summary As a member of the nursing team with Corewell Health, providing top-notch patient care is paramount. You'll be responsible for the care of our patients according to their individual plans, unit routines, and hospital policies. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, you'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients and their families. Unit Description 8 Central Medical is a fast-paced 41 bed unit. Nurses on this unit care for patients with a variety of medical diagnoses or surgical patients with medical complications, which leads to excellent learning opportunities. The care environment on 8 Center allows nurses to develop exceptional clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem solving skills while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary care team to meet the needs of complex medical patients. 8 Center has an active Professional Nurse Council, and the staff nurses are able to be involved in unit decisions with a Shared Governance Model. Essential Functions Providing care to the patient according to the plan of care, specific unit routines and hospital policy under the Direction of the Registered Nurse. Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Maintains current knowledge/certification. Attends all required Safety Training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific job-related hazards. Follows the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives. Qualifications Required High School Diploma or equivalent. CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross. Preferred Previous hospital or nursing home experience.
