Job Title: Electronics Test Technician Job Description

The Electronics Test Technician conducts a wide range of electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical tests on systems, subassemblies, and components to verify that each unit operates according to specifications and to identify the root cause of failures. This role plays a critical part in ensuring product quality, reliability, and performance through careful testing, analysis, and collaboration with engineering and production teams.

• Read and interpret test schedules, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine appropriate testing procedures and equipment.
• Perform functional tests on electronic systems, subassemblies, and parts under specified environmental conditions, including temperature changes, vibration, pressure, and humidity.
• Calibrate test instruments in accordance with established specifications to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
• Monitor and interpret dials and digital displays to assess electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, and capacitance.
• Analyze test results for defective units to determine the cause of failure and document findings clearly and accurately.
• Collaborate with engineers, technicians, production teams, and other stakeholders to discuss testing procedures and results and to resolve technical issues.
• Develop and configure test equipment setups to evaluate the performance and operation of nonstandard units and customer-returned products.
• Apply established test procedures and processes to ensure consistency, repeatability, and compliance with test specifications.
• Use test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes to perform detailed measurements and diagnostics on electronic assemblies and printed circuit boards.
• Perform soldering tasks as needed to support testing, rework, or repair of electronic components and assemblies.

• Hands-on experience with electronic test equipment, including multimeters and oscilloscopes, to measure and diagnose electronic characteristics.
• Strong understanding of electronics and test processes, including functional testing of systems, subassemblies, and parts.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as safety rules, test procedures, equipment manuals, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and electronic schematics for troubleshooting and test setup.
• Proficiency in performing calculations necessary to develop, deploy, and evaluate test processes and product performance against test specifications.
• Experience with soldering and working with printed circuit boards (PCBs) in a test or repair environment.
• Familiarity with industry standards and practices related to electronics testing, including IPC-related guidelines.
• Ability to read and write fluently in English for documentation, communication, and interpretation of technical information.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Access, and Word, for data entry, reporting, and communication.

• Comfort working with a variety of electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems and subassemblies.
• Ability to devise test setups for nonstandard units and customer-returned products, demonstrating creativity and problem-solving skills.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting test data and identifying root causes of failures.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineers, technicians, and production teams on testing procedures and results.
• Attention to detail and commitment to following established test procedures and safety guidelines.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple work orders, test schedules, and documentation accurately.

The role is based in an indoor, air-conditioned facility designed for comfort and consistent working conditions. The workplace operates as an ITAR-regulated environment, requiring adherence to specific security and compliance standards. You work with electronic test equipment, including multimeters and oscilloscopes, and interact regularly with production and engineering teams in a professional, technology-focused setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Petersburg, FL.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
