Job Title: CST/ORT Profession: Surgical Technologist Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 15:15 Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS; CNOR preferred Must-Have: Teamwork Scrub or circulate procedures Room setup and turnover Obtaining disposables and instrument sets as needed Sterile technique Central line setup Arterial line setup Belmont setup and operation Cell saver setup Description: This position requires a forward-thinking individual who can proactively plan for potential issues before they arise. Teamwork is essential in this role, emphasizing collaboration with colleagues to ensure efficient operations. The unit is equipped with Belmont, ESU, and positioning equipment. Documentation is carried out using Meditech Expanse. Staffing includes a board runner, charge nurse, service line coordinators, and ancillary assistance for room turnovers. The typical patient ratio is 1:1. Direct contact with patients requires excellent communication skills and a team-oriented approach to problem-solving and issue resolution. Advanced skills in sterile technique and various setup procedures are necessary for success. Procedures performed include open heart surgeries, CABG, MVR, TVR, AVR, VATS, and vascular procedures.
