Accountant II

Job Summary The Accountant II supports stewardship of Agency‑awarded funding to ensure every dollar aligns with the mission and the Social Determinants of Health through a trauma‑informed care lens. This role performs accounting, clerical, and administrative tasks in the business office and coaches Accountant I team members. Essential Performance Requirements Professionalism and Ethics : Demonstrate ethics and sound professional practices, promote social accountability and community stewardship. Financial Skills : Understand and explain financial accounting information; prepare and manage budgets. Critical Thinking & Analysis : Assess authenticity, accuracy, and worth of knowledge claims and reach sound conclusions from observations and data. Performance Measurement : Use statistical, economic, epidemiological, and financial methods to set goals and measure clinical and organizational performance, and apply evidence‑based techniques. Healthcare & Human Services Environments : Explain issues and advancements in healthcare and human services. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of three years of accounting experience, including reconciliations, journal entries, month‑end close, and general ledger review. Working knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, audit preparation, and grant/nonprofit accounting practices. Proficiency with accounting software and Excel. Ability to analyze transactions, prepare accurate reports, meet deadlines, communicate effectively with program staff, and maintain confidentiality. Must pass background checks. Fluent in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak) desirable. State of Texas vehicle operator’s license and proof of liability insurance, as applicable.
