Overview The Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE) is a University of Texas at Austin‑supported consortium dedicated to advancing semiconductor manufacturing technology. The Facility Operator is responsible for monitoring mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems that support cleanrooms and facilities, making real‑time decisions to react to changing conditions. Responsibilities Maintain facility operating parameters, adjusting systems to control water, air, pressure, temperature, and dew point. Monitor and control fire, electrical, and mechanical systems using SCADA and building automation systems. Conduct shift rounds, record system conditions, and monitor equipment such as compressed dry air, cooling towers, boilers, fire pumps, emergency generators, bulk gases, ultra‑pure water, chillers, vacuum, commercial water, commercial power, waste neutralization, bulk chemical distribution. Assist in creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while monitoring the control room. Respond to maintenance service requests and complete preventive maintenance activities. Required Qualifications High School Diploma. 2 years in a semiconductor facilities environment or similar. Experience following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Experience using Human‑Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and adjusting equipment operating parameters. Other related functions as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Associate or bachelor’s degree. 2 years with BAS or SCADA control systems. 4 years in a semiconductor facilities environment. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Salary Range Industry‑competitive salaries. Working Conditions Indoor and outdoor work; all seasons – hot to cold, wet to arid. Personal protective equipment required. Alarms, unscheduled calls, static and abrupt noises expected. Work involves sitting, standing, walking, pushing/pulling up to 50+ lbs, lifting, repetitive motions, use of PPE, operation of forklifts and other powered equipment, and potential exposure to chemicals, electrical, and mechanical hazards. May require climbing ladders, reaching, bending, twisting, kneeling, or stooping; work in tight or confined spaces. Physical Demands 70% stationary, often sitting and/or standing for prolonged periods. 30% walking around the site for prolonged periods. Occasional push/pull of objects ≥50 lbs. Occasional lift and carry for short distances ≥50 lbs. Occasional climbing ladders, using forklifts, boom lifts, pallet jacks, etc. Use of manual dexterity and repetitive use of a keyboard. Shift Compressed‑shift position: 12‑hour shifts (6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.) on seven of every fourteen days. Occasional nights or weekends required.
