Lead Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary The Lead Engineer position is responsible for independently delivering engineering services, from conceptual design through construction completion. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Complete project planning, coordination, and execution with some oversight, managing time effectively to meet project schedules and task deadlines. Independently complete conceptual design through construction drawing development for multiple small and medium-sized standard projects simultaneously. Create conceptual designs certified to Building Codes, Energy Codes, and LEED standards, while conducting economic and energy analyses. Responsible for HVAC calculations, design and layout of equipment, and duct and piping systems on assigned projects. Utilize a solid understanding of applications engineering, such as psychrometrics, refrigeration, acoustics, and controls systems, and a strong understanding of engineering standards and project execution processes. Ensure the overall quality of design drawings and models on all assigned projects. Proactively communicate and coordinate project designs with Project Management, Construction and Service departments, Controls, and other trade partners. Effectively and professionally communicate with colleagues and project team members, ensuring appropriate engagement of engineering applications and/or managers in project decisions. Assist with project execution, trade coordination, scheduling, document management, and problem solving/troubleshooting, as required for field engineering. Oversee other design team members to complete project assignments when requested by Manager, and perform other duties as assigned. Job Responsibility Level No direct reports Travel Requirements Travel required 5-10% of the time to other office locations. Hours This is a non-exempt position from Monday through Friday. Work hours begin and end between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm with a one-hour break for lunch and two rest breaks. Eight hours per day is required and other occasional overtime may be necessary for business needs.
