Job Title: Registered Nurse - ER Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day, Evening Mids with varied start times, every other weekend required Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in high-volume and high-acuity Emergency Room settings Description: Telemetry, Labor and Delivery, Emergency, and Critical Care Registered Nurses will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite on the first day. This is a PASS/FAIL test. Holiday requests will be considered, but not guaranteed. The unit has 28 beds, including 4 fast track, 2 trauma bays, and hallway beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 to 4. Electronic medical records are managed using Cerner. There is a Charge Nurse available who does not take patient assignments. Nurse Aides will include EMTs, with one on each shift, plus a midshift EMT who performs tech duties. Weekend requirements involve working every other weekend. Holidays are incorporated into the permanent staff rotation. Scrub color is navy. The telemetry system is GE. Ventilators are available. Clientists are available 24/7, as well as intensivists. Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services are both available 24/7. On-call rotation requires one day per month, with the possibility of two days per month for the call team. The call schedule is released with a three-day window for staff to sign up. Shifts are 12 hours, with days starting from 6 AM to 6 PM. Mids have varied start times between 9 AM and 3 PM. Nights have varied start times between 4 PM and 7 PM. Schedules are made at least two weeks in advance and follow a self-scheduling process based on seniority. There is no floating to other units. Orientation specific to the floor will be 2-3 shifts long. The unit sees approximately 155 patients per day, including trauma, stroke, pediatric, psychiatric cases, and more. Candidates must have 2 years of experience in the specialty, with travel experience preferred. The team is working towards a collaborative environment and seeks a candidate who can aid in fostering teamwork. Some travelers may have the opportunity to manage trauma patients depending on their experience. Prior experience in a Level II trauma setting or higher is preferred. Candidates are expected to work effectively within a high-volume, high-acuity Emergency Room environment.
