Cost Analyst

Position Summary As a Cost Analyst, you will identify plant and cost department problems, develop and implement improvement solutions, and work with plant management and cross-functional teams to resolve process issues. Responsibilities Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for each model and option produced in the plant, including prototyping, re-audits, category audits, and like-model comparisons. Print the Daily Production Report, distribute it, and review for margin irregularities. Monitor Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and respond promptly, providing cost impacts to the ECN when necessary. Provide cost details for Sales Change Requests (SCRs) and review Production Work Orders to ensure correct cost detail. Attend daily and weekly staff & order read meetings to communicate Damaged Material Report (DMR) issues, audit discrepancies, inventory preparation, and plant material issues. Modify BOMs as required by authorized ECRs immediately and communicate changes with the plant buyer and management. Provide cost detail for any necessary options or projects. Audit foam seal usage, calculate cost per linear foot, and report results. Attend required plant meetings, including employee and quality team meetings. Audit at least two models per month (prototypes and/or re-audits). Cost necessary options for prototype BOMs. Review ECRs for start dates and adjust costs for base units or options before month‑end closing. Investigate unusual DMR quantities and forward information to the plant buyer. Review changes made to the base BOM during the month; justify any changes with a cost impact of +/- $10.00. At month end, review the ECR file to ensure approvals are incorporated into BOMs and options. Prepare facility for physical inventory, conduct inventory counts, review, and reconcile results. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Four‑year degree in a business‑related field. Three to five years of costing experience in a manufacturing environment (preferred). Excellent mathematical skills and strong attention to detail. Organizational and analytical skills with ability to work independently or in a team. Motivated to pursue improvement, demonstrates initiative and assertiveness. Effective oral and written communication skills. Expert knowledge of MS Office (Excel). Knowledge of Oracle ERP preferred. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Work may require stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, pushing, and/or pulling. Must be able to communicate via phone, email, and in person. Work environment may involve extreme temperatures and includes up to 4 hours of sitting/standing at a time.
