Huge hills appear around the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, home to approximately 8,500 Sioux people and spreading across the state line with a total of 2.3 million acres. Along with fantastic roadside views, connections to Sioux traditions, and the travels of Lewis and Clark, the main draw to the reservation is its namesake Standing Rock, which stands in the town of Fort Yates, along the riverfront near the tribal headquarters. The Fort Yates Hospital, located near the Missouri River on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation at Fort Yates, North Dakota is a fully accredited 12-bed hospital staffed by Physicians and Nurse Practitioners. The hospital provides comprehensive primary care based on the Primary Care Medical Home model. The Emergency Department offers 24/7 care and is designated as a Level IV trauma center. Additional services include inpatient care, dental services, behavior health, optometry, nutritional counseling, and telehealth.

Nurse Practitioner RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to):

• Will be responsible and accountable for assessment, diagnosis, and management of patient problems, including prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic intervention.
• The scope of practice of a nurse practitioner includes, but is not limited to, each of the following:
  • dvanced practice registered nursing by certified nurse practitioners is based on knowledge and skills acquired throughout an advanced practice registered nurse's nursing education, training, and experience.
  • dvanced nursing patient assessment and diagnosis.
  • Ordering diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures, performing those tests and procedures when using health care equipment, and interpreting and using the results of diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures ordered by the advanced practice registered nurse or another health care professional.
  • Ordering treatments, ordering, or applying appropriate medical devices, and using nursing, medical, therapeutic, and corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status.
  • Providing palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Providing advanced counseling, patient education, health education, and patient advocacy.

Nurse Practitioner REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a master's degree in nursing.
• Must have a current and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
• Must have a current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification from a provider recognized by the American Heart Association.
• Must have a minimum of two years experience.
