Aspirus is currently seeking a SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to work at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital - GI Cente r.

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for planning and organizing supplies, instruments and equipment for surgical procedures. Promotes education of self, peers and students. Collaborates with all surgical team members to assure the safe and efficient passage of a patient through surgery. The GI Surgical Techs provide coverage for procedures, scope cleaning, and the pre/posting of patients. They are also utilized as extra help in the OR on days for case support and other functions. In addition, these techs also help float to cover PACU as needed to help with staffing issues when minimal staffing numbers are required. The staff in this department also have to do the chart prep/preadmissions work for the patient charts.

Hours: This position is occasional/as needed. Varied Shifts.

Experience/Qualifications

• Knowledge of surgical standards and practices normally acquired through graduation from a surgical technologist program or related field and/or three or more years of related experience in the operating room.
• Graduate of a certified surgical technologist program or soon to graduate.
• One-year acute care surgical experience beneficial.
• Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist beneficial.
• Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
