Weekend rotation (Saturday and Sunday, 6:00am to 2:00pm) approximately three times per year. Schedule subject to change based on production needs. Position Summary This role leads a team in collecting feed conversion data, sorting birds, and managing daily operations in BHFCR chicken houses. Responsibilities include data capture, equipment maintenance, animal care, biosecurity, and workplace safety. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Catch, load, haul, and cage chickens; record IDs and cage numbers with a barcode scanner. Weigh chickens and feed with a scale and record data on a computer tablet. Prepare, set up, and break down BFC chicken houses: spread shavings, discharge feed, remove spent feed and shavings. Sort birds in brood and grow‑out houses. Monitor flock environment and collect laboratory samples to assess health status. Clean and sanitize equipment and surfaces; flush water lines and record usage. Provide daily care for chickens. Dispose of mortality following animal welfare standards. Maintain a clean, organized work environment and communicate effectively. Additional Duties, Responsibilities, and Activities Operate high‑pressure water hoses to wash equipment; maintain vehicles by checking fluid levels, filters, and tire pressure; follow biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines. Be prepared to adapt to changing tasks and schedules. Biosecurity / Animal Welfare Requirements Shower and change clothing and footwear before entering the facility. No jewelry except approved medical ID or body piercings. Sign agreements to avoid avian species and adhere to company biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines. Physical Demands and Work Environment Regular lifting of 25–50pounds and use of dollies for up to 500pounds of feed. Work on concrete, walk, stand, and use hands frequently. Work in hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold environments. Use of safety goggles, gloves, waterproof apron, cut‑resistant gloves, rubber boots, and optionally hearing protection and N95 respirators. Tools and Equipment Hand tools (scalpels, knives, scoops, broom, squeegee), equipment (computer tablet, barcode scanners, utility carts, scales), safe operating of company vehicles. Safety Follow all applicable safety policies: Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO, and Personal Protective Equipment. Identify, address, and mitigate safety‑related risks.
