Cardiothoracic Surgeon (Outpatient) Position - Albuquerque, New Mexico

Major Duties of the Position:

• Provide high-quality cardiothoracic surgical services in our progressive, innovative health care system for the veteran outpatient population.
• Deliver patient-centered diagnostic and therapeutic cardiothoracic surgical care in an outpatient setting.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans to address the specific cardiothoracic surgical needs of patients.
• Perform and interpret various cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), heart valve surgery, lung resections, and other related surgeries.
• Collaborate with other specialists to provide comprehensive cardiothoracic care, including cases that may require multidisciplinary management.
• Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, contributing to educational development programs affiliated with the University of New Mexico, School of Medicine.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care, teaching, and research, and be eligible for a faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery at the University of New Mexico.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care for outpatient cardiothoracic surgery patients.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
• Paid Time Off: 50–55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5-day paid absence for CME)
• Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
