About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Orthopedics Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Valid RN license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Previous charge experience Description: Ortho RN 36-hour day shifts Unit accepts first-time travelers. Patient ratios are 1:5-6. Every other weekend requirement. Float requirement within scope. Unit consists of 30 beds specializing in orthopedic and spinal conditions with medical overflow. Documentation system used is Epic. Clinical skills required include: - Accessing and managing ports - BiPAP and CPAP management - Blood product administration - Central line blood draw - High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) usage - Insulin management - Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) - Management of dysrhythmias - IV insulin protocols - Oral suctioning - Oxygen administration and management - Peripheral line care and management - Pre/Post hemodialysis management - Total joint replacement procedures - Use of rapid response and code teams - Wound care and wound vac management Interdisciplinary support includes teams such as physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. The unit serves adult and geriatric populations. Special equipment includes wound vacs and Hoyer lifts.
