Machinist

Job TitleBasic Functions: Under the guidance of the Machine Shop Foreman, the mechanic assigned to drilling flanges, tubesheets & baffles by operating CNC/VTL machines and maintaining quality and safety standards. Major Duties:Plans by studying drawings, material types and/or other specifications. Sets-up parts and tools needed for the job. Maintains specifications by observing operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, replacing worn tools, and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and troubleshooting malfunctions. Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.Qualifications:Knowledge - High school diploma or equivalent experience. Knowledge of machining practices. Must be able to read and understand drawings. Must be proficient in basic math (fractions and decimals). Must be proficient in reading measuring devices - measuring tapes, scales, calipers, dial indicators. Must have ability to follow instructions, shop procedures and safety practices. Programming experience w/ Mazak controls or similar is preferred (not required). VTL/Vertical Mill and Radial Drill experience preferredSkills - Fabrication shop practices Able to read & interpret drawings Read & write the English language Experience in training or fab exposure (OJT)Working Conditions - Heat, chemical exposure, pinching hazards, standing for prolonged periods of time, kneeling, some climbing and must lift 50-60 lbs.
