Therapist/Counselor- Faith-Based Treatment & Recovery Support Center

Job Description Dismas House of Kansas City has immediate openings for compassionate, driven, and solutions-oriented professionals to provide therapy/counseling in a certified substance use disorder treatment center that offers a faith-based approach to clinical treatment and recovery support services. You will provide short-term interventions and recovery-oriented rehabilitation services in group and individual settings. There are several openings available for full-time, part-time or contractual positions. Work hours must be established in advance, but schedules can be flexible. Services to outpatient clients are virtual and can be provided remotely. Qualifications: Must be a licensed clinical social worker or licensed professional counselor in the State of Missouri. Must have at least one (1) year experience in treating persons with substance use disorders. Capable of conducting analytical evaluations and communicating effectively with executive leadership, colleagues and other program stakeholders. Meet the minimum requirements to be clinically privileged by Dismas House of Kansas City. Must demonstrate the ability to provide clinical behavioral health services in an efficient and sensitive manner, maintaining confidentiality, good clinical judgement and cultural competence. Core Job Duties: Complete or review assessment information during the initial intake. In most cases, consumers entering the direct services treatment program at Dismas House of KC will receive an initial intake and assessment using the Addictions Severity Index (ASI) upon admission. Conduct a face‑to‑face diagnostic interview with person(s)-served within the first three (3) visits for all outpatient admissions. Complete Interpretative Summary based on assessment data and the diagnostic interview. (Interpretative Summary should include a summary of the ASI domains and ASAM dimensions for the purpose of appropriate program placement.) Recommend and evaluate the participant’s level of care is consistent with the needs and goals documented in the client file. Develop the individualized treatment and recovery care plan for assigned person(s)-served with SMART goals, objectives and interventions. The Diagnostician will report/share the plan with the other members of the service‑delivery team to ensure accurate implementation and maximum efficiency to support the program participants. The Diagnostician ensures treatment plan review forms completed accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with certification review standards. Assure written reports to appropriate persons or agencies are completed in a timely manner, including the provision of such when necessary. Provides individual counseling, group education/counseling to person(s)-served, as required, and ensures progress notes are accurate and detailed, in compliance with agency’s timely submission policy. Ensures Discharge/Transition/Aftercare Summary documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain/improve professional competencies through training activities and/or other educational means. Maintain awareness regarding the agency vision and assist staff in continuing motivation and empowerment. Demonstrate a working knowledge of the DSM and familiarity with the diagnostic criteria sets of all substance use and mental disorders. Participates in clinical staffing of person(s)-served to include attendance of meetings and/or written notes regarding person(s)-served cooperation and participation with program expectations. Exhibit a professional appearance, attitude and demeanor that reflects confidence, positive self‑esteem and overall professionalism when working with person(s)-served, co‑workers, families and referral sources. Demonstrate initiative and a "can do" attitude. Other job duties and special projects as assigned.
